Friday August 14th 2015 11.00am - 1.30pm
GCU Lead in the William Harley Building, Glasgow Caledonian University
Key note speaker Lilja Gretarsdottir, Senior Advisor on Migration for the Council of Europe, will talk on current EU migration policy changes and the social upheaval, which has been documented and witnessed, through the images and stories relating to 1000’s of people’s deaths in the Mediterranean.
How have other European countries responded – and what can people in Scotland do?
Chaired by Dr Ima Jackson, Professor Rebecca Kay and Professor Alison Phipps, co-convenors of GRAMNet, will articulate ways of engaging and responding to migration  through research and policy  developed  with those who have migrated. A speaker from the Migration Strategy Team within the Scottish Government will outline current thinking. Nazek Ramadan, Director Migrant Voice will articulate from a community activist perspective, efforts to influence the media rhetoric and enable migrants to represent themselves.
This event will be of interest to those who work in local, national and international migration related research and policy, as well as those who support and document migration related experience.
Join us for discussion and lunch - at GCU Lead  in the William Harley Building, Glasgow Caledonian University.http://www.gcu.ac.uk/theuniversity/howtofindus/campusmap/
