Literary London Training Programme (August 24-28, 2015)
London Centre for Social Studies (LCSS) invites you to Literary London Training Programme. In this training you will have an opportunity to explore some of the UK's prettiest landscapes, visiting author's homes, literary museums, towns and villages where stories are set, and places that obviously inspired the writers.
 
Besides the literary tour, there will be seminars and workshops at King’s College London, the British Library, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
 
From Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, James Joyce, Jane Austen to Thomas Hardy, the study of English Literature takes you on a journey of discovery. Now it is time to actualise your literary journey through some of the real-life places that inspired English writers and poets by visiting their real literary landscapes and live performances.
 
A brief introduction of a five day training programme as follows:
 
Day 1
Welcome, Induction and workshop at King’s College London
Visit to Westminster Abbey and the Sherlock Holmes Museum
 
Day 2
Shakespeare’s Globe “Introducing Shakespeare and the Globe”
“Shakespeare in the City Walk”- 90 min. tour
Visit to St. Paul’s Cathedral
 
Day 3
The British Library- guided tour- “Treasures of the British Library”
Visit to the Keats House Museum and  Freud Musem
 
Day 4
Dickensian Walking Tour and a visit to the Charles Dickens Museum
Visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum
Shakespeare’s Globe- watching a performance of Shakespeare’s play, As You Like It.
 
Day 5
Trip to Jane Austen House Museum, Hampshire.
Visit to the famous bookshops of Charing Cross Road

The training cost will be £100
Spaces for this training programme are very limited so early registration is advised.
Participants will be provided with a 'Certificate of Attendance' at the end of the programme
